We started the day in Selçuk with another traditional breakfast in
the cute courtyard.
Full once again, we packed up and drove around Selçuk more before heading North to Çeşme. The roads were really nice and the highway driving easy.
We checked in to another resort stay at the Reges Resort & Spa, paid for entirely with points (thanks to Tammy). They upgraded our room and sorted out the separate reservations that we had to make earlier. The room they gave us is HUGE, in the corner and looks directly over the resort grounds (they look like the tropics) and the Aegean Sea...we are so spoiled.😌
After spreading out in our room for a few minutes, we walked the resort and ended up at the beach restaurant for a light lunch. There was a pretty strong wind all night, but it wasn’t cold, in fact was refreshing.
Back in the room we napped a little had some delicious Nespresso coffee while sitting on the balcony. Rather than staying in for dinner we chose to head back into the center of town for a local restaurant to eat at. For all the pampering that luxury resorts offer, they can’t measure up to an area’s authentic culture and charm.
We walked the center of town for a while, checked out the waterfront then settled on a bustling little Turkish restaurant. This has been a recipe for success on many of our trips: Survey the area for eateries busy with the local people and order what looks good that they have. You get to be surrounded with the “real” people, usually get great food and it is often super affordable...and they appreciate you being there.
Apparently this rage has reached Turkey also
After dinner we drove around the waterfront and surrounding neighborhoods for a while then headed back with a stop at a local grocery. We picked up drinks and breakfast items plus the makings for Sangria tomorrow ;-).
When we returned to the room we were surprised with a plate of treats to snack on - a mark in the plus column for resorts.
There may have been more treats here that went missing before we took a pic :-)
